One of the best parts about running a company serving jiu-jitsu players is the incredible stories we hear from our customers.

We love Matthew's story of how BJJ has contributed a great impact on his life that led him to earn a blue belt.

Corpus Christi, TX. Blue Belt.

Why did you first get into jiu-jitsu?

I was going through a low point in my life after a divorce. My friend David Rapid Waters, who was an amateur MMA fighter, at the time and is now pro, suggested I come to an open mat to relieve some of the stress and depression I was experiencing.

I attended the open mat and fell in love with the sport instantly.

What has been the biggest obstacle in your journey and how have you overcome it?

The biggest obstacle in my journey has been learning to accept injuries and that the body needs rest to recover.

Tell us about your best (or worst) submission story.

My best submission was at the IBJJF Austin Open where I managed to submit my opponent within 30 secs by landing a loop choke.

It was a big accomplishment for me because I had competed in 2 other IBJJF tournaments and always won bronze. This was the first time I won silver.
