One of the best parts about running a company serving jiu-jitsu players is the incredible stories we hear from our customers.
We love Senika's story because of her incredible domination in the world of BJJ through her hard work and dedication.

Why did you first get into jiu-jitsu?
I was at a mixed martial arts school training in Muay Thai when one night me and my teammates were at Buffalo Wild Wings watching the UFC fights. That was when I saw Ronda Rousey fight, when I saw her fight I thought she was the most amazing female mixed martial artist I had seen in my life. That day I decided I would try my hand at MMA. The next day I took my first BJJ class.
What has been the biggest obstacle in your journey and how have you overcome it?
My biggest obstacle has been my confidence and weight cuts. One day I sat down to evaluate things. I went through all my competitions and I came to a conclusion that any time I had loss was when I cut weight. When I did lose it would bring my confidence down drastically. The times I won were all the times I didn't cut weight. So I decided that day I would never cut weight for a BJJ competition ever again, I would compete at whatever weight I'm at. Since doing that I have won every division I have signed up for.
Tell us about your best (or worst) submission story.
I think my best for me was during a submission only tournament. My opponent and I were rollin hard. 45 minutes in we both were dead tired. All I remember was being exhausted and my professor encouraging me to keep going. I got that win by side control Americana.
Share one piece of advice you have for our community.
My one piece of advice is come to class. No matter how bad you think you are, how much you may lose at competitions, how slow you may be at picking up new techniques just come. You will get better, by being there!
