Andrew Tackett is a rising star in jiu jitsu. He's known for his skills in no-gi grappling, a style without the gi(uniform). He trains at Brazilian Fight Factory in Texas and gained fame through competitions like Who's Number One and Who's Next.
Andrew's teammates gave him the playful nickname "Pirulito," which means "lollipop" in Portuguese. This nickname stuck ever since he started training at the BFF gym. Apparently, his coach, Rodrigo Cabral, couldn't resist the comparison between Andrew's lean physique and a lollipop's long, thin shape back then.
Biography
Andrew Tackett, born in California in 2003, grew up in Austin, Texas. His dad, a combat sports enthusiast, enrolled Andrew and his older brother William in jiu-jitsu at a nearby gym when Andrew was just a kid. Both brothers quickly took to the competitive side of the sport.
Looking for a more competition-focused environment, the Tackett brothers switched gyms to the Brazilian Fight Factory under coach Rodrigo Cabral. Their aggressive, crowd-pleasing style made them rising stars. Andrew's dedication earned him a promotion to black belt in December 2022.
