Andy “Night Night” Varela is a grappler and a mixed martial arts (MMA) Fighter. He is currently a black belt Jiu Jitsu practitioner under Casey Halstead from the 10th Planet Team in Las Vegas.

He made a name for himself after competing in the Submission Underground (SUG) event, a promotion led by former UFC Middleweight Chael Sonnen. As of today, Andy is one of the most exciting fighters in the 170 lbs (77kg) division.

Biography

Andy Varela was born on March 20, 1992 in El Paso, Texas. He played different sports when he was a kid, but he loved playing basketball. His father was a mixed martial artist so he had basic combat training. However, he only started to work officially in a team during his high school days.

At 19 years old, Varela officially joined an MMA gym and he debut one year after his training. He won the KOTC at the age of 22 and decided to go pro when he turned 23.

Although he became famous as the representative of 10th Planet in Las Vegas, he started his grappling career under Cristobal Davila at 10th Planet El Paso. This is where he earned his belt up to brown. When he moved to Las Vegas, he joined the branch of 10th Planet there under coach Casey Halstead who then promoted him to black belt on November 24, 2019.
