Biography

Garry Tonon, a New Jersey native, started his grappling journey in fifth grade with wrestling. At 14, he discovered Brazilian jiu-jitsu and joined a local MMA gym, although he preferred the sport's competitive aspect.

After leaving the MMA gym, he found Ocean County Jiu-Jitsu Academy, where he trained under Tom deBlass. Tonon's dedication and talent led him to train with Ricardo Almeida and eventually earn his black belt in 2013. Throughout his career, Tonon focused on no-gi grappling and became known for his heel hooks and lower limb attacks, contributing to the success of the "Danaher Death Squad."
