Biography
Joao Miyao was born and raised in Brazil. Miyao started his martial arts journey with his twin brother, Paulo. Together, they achieved remarkable success in BJJ, winning numerous championships and earning recognition as top competitors.
Miyao's journey began with Judo, but he discovered his passion for BJJ at age 16. Under the guidance of his instructor, Adriano Carvalho, Miyao and his brother dedicated themselves to training and eventually moved to São Paulo to pursue their dreams.
They found a home at Cicero Costha's social project, PSLPB, where they honed their skills and began dominating competitions. Miyao's exceptional grappling skills and consistent victories earned him sponsorship and the opportunity to compete in prestigious BJJ tournaments worldwide.
In 2013, he achieved the highest rank in BJJ, black belt, and continued to excel in international championships. Even as his brother retired from competitions, Miyao's strong bond with Paulo remained evident, as demonstrated by Paulo's emotional letter to him in 2022.
