United StatesI’m 5’9”, 180 lbs, with an athletic build, and I bought two XL rash guards from Gold. Normally, I wear a large, but according to Gold’s size chart, XL should fit 170-195 lbs, so I sized up. When the rash guards arrived, they were incredibly tight—practically skin-tight, and fit like a medium. It was impossible to wear them comfortably. As a black belt who has been training for years and owns gear from many brands, I’ve never encountered sizing issues this bad. Out of curiosity, I checked the reviews on Gold’s website and saw that this sizing issue has been a long-standing problem, which made it even more frustrating. If this is such a well-known issue, why hasn’t it been fixed? I reached out to their customer service, and to their credit, they responded quickly. They offered me a full refund or the option to keep the rash guards and gift them to teammates, along with a 50% off code for a reorder. I chose the second option since I knew teammates who could use them. However, I still had to pay $8 for shipping which was annoying, and in the end, I spent more than the full price for gear I originally bought because it was on sale. To make matters worse, the rash guards themselves are nothing special. They’re not bad, but they don’t stand out in terms of quality or design compared to other brands. It feels like I wasted my time and money on this purchase. Going forward, I’ll be sticking with brands like Fuji or FWH, which have always been consistent and reliable. This experience was frustrating, and I can’t recommend Gold until they address these issues."
